So we Brexited...
Dear diary,
Brexit's been in my mind once again.
It's Friday afternoon.
Muneca and busy Mama are in the kitchen. Muneca is having a cup of tea while busy Mama is making sandwiches for afternoon snack. Munequita enters, hungry as she sniffs for food.
Munequita
We're not part of Europe anymore.
Busy Mama
You what? Is it today?
Muneca
Not till this evening. Eleven or clock.
Munequita
Mummy was it 2016 you went to the polls?
Busy Mama
Was it?
Muneca
It was. The 23rd of June 2016.
Busy Mama
Can't believe it went quick.
Muneca
What a disappointment.
Munequita
You all voted remain. Even my Dad.
Muneca
I honestly thought we were going to win.
Busy Mama
Can't believe how controversial it became. People voted leave, not fully understanding what it meant to leave Europe.
Muneca
It brought so much division amongst family and friends.
Busy Mama
I know it sounds stupid what I'm about to say. But why vote Brexit just because your fed up with immigration. It felt like immigration was the only reason. Not good enough in my opinion.
Muneca
Like your friend Rose and her husband Bob, immigrants steeling our jobs.
Busy Mama
It's a bit of a cheek to say such a thing, when you've never worked all your life. And what about the young ones? This is why I voted remain.
Muneca
Thanks Mum. But I can't be bothered with it anymore. All this thing, going to Trafalgar Square never made a difference.
Busy Mama
It's clear to see Europe made a massive difference. It brought prosperity to us all. By the way I'm off to Aldi later.
Muneca
Aldi? There you go. Another European shop taking over England. We just love them to bits.
Busy Mama
We'll see how cheap they'll be in a few years time.
Munequita
What is that other shop called? The one with all those cheapy things?
Tim
Do you mean Lidl?
Munequita
Not food, you idiot
Tim
I'm not an idiot.
Busy Mama
Munequita apologize.
Munequita
Didn't mean it-
Tim
Say sorry-
Munequita
I have-
Tim
You poo face. Say sorry-
Muneca
Darn here we go again-
Munequita
Okay,Okay. Sorry. Are you happy now?
Busy Mama
Come on both of you. Stop this nonsense.
Hey everyone. I know. Is it the flying tiger?
Busy Mama
That's the one!
Muneca
Darn. You see. Europe has done us a massive favour, when it comes to counting pennies.
Tim
I love Tiger-
Munequita
Me too. It's kind of addicted you know.
Tim
Can we go?
Busy Mama
Of course we will. How about Aldi later?
Tim
Don't want to.
Busy Mama
That's fine. What about you Munequita?
Munequita
Nope
Busy Mama
I'll quickly nip and get a few bits and bobs.
Tim
Mummy what about Holland?
Busy Mama
We'll just have to see.
So last Friday we parted from Europe. Not sure what new developments they'll be when it comes to travelling in the near future.
At the moment, I'm trying to remember how it was for me, back in the day when Britain was independent. It didn't have any affect on me when it came to holidays. I was brought up in the North of England most of my life and the way my English mother brought me up, was very simple. She didn't believe in expensive holidays in Europe and beyond. She believed the best holidays for us was in the countryside anywhere in England. All my school friends couldn't understand why I was kind of deprived from going abroad specially when it came to sunny Spain. I was kind of jealous, when my friends talked about their amazing holidays in Europe, while my holidays closer to home, camping in Wales or staying a week in the Yorkshire Dales was kind of boring. Mother always use to say to us that holidays in Europe were expensive, there was to much to consider like expensive passports and visas. However I look back and think maybe the way I was brought up did kind of inspire me later on in life, as a Mummy myself. I thought of the idea of giving an opportunity to my own children to explore beyond England. I was surprised how easy it was booking a holiday with search engines making it all possible to find cheap flights and accommodation, even applying and renewing our passports with no need of a visa was incredibly easy. Although technology plays a huge part in the world of travel I am kind of curious how this will affect us all, now we're out of Europe. Is it going to be more expensive to travel to Europe? What other changes will there be? Feel free to comment in regards to this post...

Tim's sitting on the stairs waiting for food. He is listening to our rather deep conversation about Brexit.
