Bolivia's longest and highest cable car in the world...
Saturday the 24th of March 2018 the local people of La Paz and El Alto were out once again in full swing as they all celebrated together the opening of two cable car lines of Mi Teleferico. This one was one of the best ever. Local people mingled in with the Bolivian Government as they all enjoyed an afternoon and evening full of music and dance. Bolivia embraced culture. President Evo Morales and Vice President Alvaro Linera and family were the first passengers to ride La Linea Blanca and Linea Azul of Mi Teleferico. There was also a thanksgiving offering to the Aymara Pachamama earth/time Mother who continued to be present in this event.
President Evo Morales has worked hard to make El Teleferico a success. It's costly, however in the long run the people of El Alto and La Paz can finally find comfort travelling silently high, with no disruptions with amazing views of the surrounding Altiplano and the Andes mountains, in order to get to their daily destinations. The wonderful thing about Mi Teleferico, it is owned by the Government and the benefit of being this way, the fares are affordable.
I spoke to a few Bolivian's in London who have lived in El Alto and La Paz. Miguel mentioned he found it difficult before El Teleferico to live in La Paz. It was tiring to drive around and walk. The terrain made it difficult to get around, yet alone trying to climb up to El Alto at such an altitude. Too tiring. Your body is never straight. You're either going forward or backwards, Miguel said. Would I consider living in La Paz? I need to go and visit first and have an experience in El Teleferico. By the look of it, it definitely has made a difference. And what about you Guztavo? Not to live, however I'm happy el Teleferico has made a big difference for my people. No more traffic jams.
El Teleferico has also made a huge difference to school children in Bolivia. The Juancito Pinto bono, financially helps all children in Bolivia with their studies. Education is free for all children and all children who are in education are given the Juancito Pinto bono to support their studies every month. This off course has helped the poor to get their children back into education with the help of such a huge project as El Teleferico and the Bolivian Government.
People in Bolivia have a reason to smile. I would if I lived in La Paz. Evo Morales has brought stability to the country and people are beginning to live a very different style of life. With El Teleferico, people no longer worry about getting stuck in a jam . Instead families plan amazing outings with their children. The government has now built a children's playground next to El Teleferico, Linea Naranja an underground station. Bolivia's cable car in La Paz and El Alto is now nominated by the Guinness World Records 2018 as the longest cable car in the world, 19 miles over 13,123 feet above sea level. That is amazing. I hope one day I will have an opportunity to have a ride en el Teleferico with my family.
