Ruislip Lido 2017...

The beach on the other side of of the reservoir ♥ June 2017.
Ruislip Lido is a reservoir and artificial beach in Ruislip within the London Borough of Hillingdon, England. It is situated between Ruislip Common and Ruislip woods. Ruislip Lido is family friendly. It has a children's playground built on an artificial sandy beach next to an artificial reservoir. The reservoir is safe to paddle and you can even enjoy a full body dip. This is perfect for children who love water and just want to splash around.
It isn't the first time we visited Ruislip Lido. Our first visit was back in the 90's. It was different then with just a few climbing frames. I remember the artificial reservoir was very different. The children were not allowed to be in the water. My older children who were young at the time, enjoyed playing on the sandy beach with their buckets and spades and even enjoyed the short train ride through Ruislip woods.
A quick snap before our train ride.
Ruislip Lido Railway continues to run by volunteers. It first opened in 1945 with short trains being hauled by Prince Edward and Atlantic type steam locomotive. The railway has been extended over the years and it's different. It now has an extra train stop, if you do get off you can enjoy a pleasant walk through the woods. It now runs from Water Edge Pub through Ruislip woods to Ruislip Lido artificial beach. The journey takes only 10 minutes. It runs all year. I remember my older children had a ride on that same little train when it started to snow. It was definitely a very cold exciting experience they will never forget.
Our most recent outing to Ruislip Lido was during this last school holidays. It was a treat from our Aunt. It was a hot day and we all enjoyed an ice cream before climbing on this little train. It was fun and what a great way to travel through Ruislip woods as we made our way to the beach. The children excitedly ran towards the water and managed to dip their feet. Surprisingly the water was very warm. Even I had fun. We all wished we had brought our swimming costumes however there were other exciting things to do like the children's play ground built on the sand.
My little boy enjoyed pushing this car.
It was definitely a great outing. Make sure if it is a hot day don't forget your swimming costumes. Young children do need to be with an adult when they are in the water. Ruislip Lido has good facilities and even has a concrete little pedestrian path which leads though the woods. After a lovely time in Ruislip Lido we all enjoyed the rest off our time with our Aunts ♥.
It was pleasant to soak our feet.
Mi wawa ♥
